Fisherman Falls Through Ice, Found Safe at Home

DELHI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS) -- There was some confusion on the water in Ingham County Saturday afternoon as officials searched for a man thought to have fallen through the ice.

It turned out they were right, he did fall through the ice, but it happened the morning of New Year's Eve.

Ingham County Sheriff's deputies say they were called today to check a hole on the ice at the waterway most commonly known as the "Walker Gravel Pit." That's near Harper Road and Cedar Street. When investigators got there, they found fishing equipment and a man's ID near that hole, but no person in sight.

They searched the water with an infrared camera, but didn't find anything.

Officials eventually found the man safe at home. He told them he fell through the ice on Monday, but hadn't gone back out to get his belongings.
