Taxi Thief Expected in Court

The man accused of stealing a flat screen television and then a taxi cab is expected in court on Thursday.

Jackson County Sheriff's Officials say Wednesday morning the 49-year-old Jackson man took off with a 38-inch TV from the Walmart on West Michigan Avenue.

Deputies later noticed a cab with the TV in the back seat, and attempted to stop the cab. It was unsuccessful because the driver kept going, saying the man was threatening him.

The driver eventually escaped and the man hopped into the front seat.

He later crashed and was arrested.

The man faces charges for carjacking and fleeing and eluding police.
