Metal thieves have gone to unusual lengths to cash in on stolen goods.
They rip pipes out of empty homes and cut catalytic converters out of cars.
But a thief or group of thieves in Jackson County found a particularly interesting target: the metal support structure of a cell phone tower.
Jackson County sheriff's deputies say 15 pieces of a support structure are missing from an AT&T cell tower in Parma.
It happened some time between December 20th and January 10th.
Investigators say the tower is not in danger of collapsing and that they don't think service was interrupted.
They are looking for anyone who saw activity at the site over the last few weeks. If you have information that may help police, you can call Deputy Dan Deering at (517) 768-7955, the TIP Line (517) 787-0212, or send a tip on the free Apple app at "JCSO".
