Denver digital agency Elevated Third this week announced the launch of a new mobile-optimized website for Denver Botanic Gardens.
(PRWEB) January 11, 2013
In a continued partnership with Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver digital agency Elevated Third announced the launch of a new, mobile-optimized website for the landmark organization. Denver Botanic Gardens is one of the nation’s leading botanical gardens, and provides its visitors with an array of gardens with plants from different areas and climates around the world.
Denver Botanic Gardens wanted to secure a mobile presence to guarantee that it met all of its users’ needs. The entirety of Denver Botanic Gardens’ digital presence is built in Drupal, as the open-source CMS is ideal for large sites that feature a variety of dynamic content types. Using Drupal, site administrators are able to manage and regularly update all content — both for the desktop site and the mobile site — all in one place. Now, when making changes to the main site, all updates automatically translate to the mobile-designed pages as well.
The digital agency approached the Gardens’ mobile strategy by first looking to analytics, with analytics, to find the pages most accessed by mobile users. From there, page designs specific for mobile users were created, including the following: a “Top 5 Picks” page with daily changes for the most visited or most recent upcoming events; an information page with admission information, locations, hours, parking and membership pricing; and a calendar that pulls in upcoming art exhibits and events for direct information and easy access.
Elevated Third and Denver Botanic Gardens welcome the mobile site with arms wide, as the decision to optimize its site for mobile users has been part of the Gardens’ long-term digital strategy since early 2011. Previously this year, Elevated Third redeveloped the entire back end of the Gardens website to better accommodate the diverse and extensive amount of content that lives on the site. This redevelopment enabled the Gardens to finally implement mobile-designed pages and seamlessly integrate them into the site’s structure.
About Denver Botanic Gardens: Green inside and out, the Gardens is considered one of the top botanical gardens in the United States and a pioneer in water conservation. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Gardens’ living collections encompass specimens from the tropics to the tundra, showcasing a plant palette chosen to thrive in Colorado’s semi-arid climate. The Gardens' dynamic, 24-acre urban oasis in the heart of the city is now in its 61st year, offering unforgettable opportunities to flourish with unique garden experiences for the whole family – as well as world-class education and plant conservation research programs. Additional sites at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, a 750-acre wildlife and native plant refuge in Jefferson County; and Mount Goliath, a high-altitude trail and interpretive site on the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, extend this experience throughout the Front Range.
