Lansing Built Cadillac Wins 'Car of the Year'

A car built in Lansing has won one of the nation's top awards.

The 2013 Cadillac ATS was named the Car of the Year by a panel of experts. The decision was announced at the kickoff to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

It beat out the Ford Fusion and the Honda Accord.

It's not the first such award for the ATS, which is made at GM's Grand River Assembly plant in Lansing. It has been recognized by the Detroit Free Press, Esquire Magazine, , Popular Mechanics, the Motor Press Guild, and Decisive Magazine.

The first ATS for public sale rolled off the line to much fanfare in July.

The Dodge Ram won for Truck of the Year.

Chivon Kloepfer was in Detroit for the announcement. She'll have much more on the win and we'll have reaction from Lansing coming up on 6 News.
