Neighbors Break Silence On Baby’s Murder

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Neighbors of a man accused of murdering his 3-month-old daughter spoke out on Sunday, saying they can't understand why such a tragedy would happen.

John Sanders Jr, was charged on Jan. 7 with open murder and first degree child abuse after Ja'Nayjah Sanders died from what police call "serious internal injuries."

While the child's mother, Shamarrie Kittle, has not granted any media interviews, she wrote on the 6 News Facebook page just two days after her daughter's death, "I carried her nine months only to spend 90 days with her. My baby is gone. Rest peacefully, princess."

John Sanders is due back in district court on Tuesday for a pre-exam conference.
