Lansing Fire Leaves Mother and Children Homeless

A house fire on the 1400 block of Linval Street south of the Grand River left a mother and her three children homeless.

The fire started around 4:30 Tuesday morning at the families residence.

When Lansing fire crews arrived, officials say flames and smoke were pouring out of the roof.

They were able to contain the fire to the second floor and the attic and were able to get it under control in about 20 minutes.

The mother tells 6 News that a smoke detector woke them up, and she was able to get her children out safely.

Investigators are still looking for a cause.
