Auto Show Starts Off 'Year of the Comeback'

Posted:

It was day two of the media preview at the Detroit Auto Show and there's been a lot of talk that this year is the comeback year.

"It really is an incredible American success story. A turn around story and an amazingly short amount of time when you look at what everybody's been through," said Senator Debbie Stabenow.

It's the story of a comeback.

"It's wonderful to see the resurgence of the industry and it's very exciting and I'm proud to say in 2012, we made over 2 million vehicles right here in Michigan," said Governor Snyder.

"A few years ago, a lot of people wrote General Motors off, including Cadillac. And we're going on to rebuild a brand and the ATS is really a foundational car for the Cadillac brand," said Antonia Francovilla, GM Lansing Region Plant Manager.

Another car getting a lot of attention is the new Corvette. Designers say it's the most advanced one yet.

"I'll tell you, personally being involved with the new Corvette, we were never deviated. We were never distracted. We just kept full steam ahead," said Tom Peters, Director of Design.
