State Flu Numbers Continue to Rise

More people are getting sick with the flu.

So far this season, the Department of Community Health says the state lab has confirmed 445 cases--that's up from 338 last week. Across the United States, 29 children have died from the flu, that's nine more since last week.

Health officials do want to stress there isn't a vaccine shortage, though. It's also not too late to get one. For children and adults, health officials say getting vaccinated is still your best defense.

The CDC annouced Friday that elderly people are getting hit especially hard this season, saying half the people hospitalized are those 65 and older.
