Michigan native, Coalition of Dwarf Awareness advocate and actor Martin Kleba has big goals and big plans for mid-Michigan and MSU.
"I've got a game coming up to help raise money for the World Dwarf Olympics coming to Michigan State this summer," said Kleba.
That game is the 4th Annual Statesman vs Celebrity Basketball Challenge, where Martin and his world gold-medal winning dwarf basketball team take on area personalities in an entertaining and eye-opening charity contest.
"If the ball goes up and hits the rim or the backdrop it has to drop on the floor first before the average size guys can get it. The other rule is the celebrity team has to bounce pass so they're not cherry pickin' over our heads," said Klebba.
NFL and Spartan alum TJ Duckett helped organize the local players to go up against Klebba's klobbering crew on the court. He says this game, then later the Dwarf Olympic Games on campus, will be unique, popular and positive events sure to energize our area.
"It was a new experience for me and it will be a new experience for them to see," said Duckett.
Count on seeing some clutch competition, says Klebba, just make sure to look low.
The statesman vs celebrity game will be played at Haslett High School on Sunday at noon. Our own Evan Pinsonnault will be one of the guest players competing. Tickets are still available. You can reserve yours by heading to Seen on 6.
