A Lainsgburg man is without a home after a fire ripped through his house, leaving it a total loss.
It happened on West Beard Road around 12a.m. Monday.
Officials say someone driving down I-69 saw the fire and called 9-1-1.
Neighbors say the homeowner had just finished remodeling the home and had planned to put it up for sale, when flames destroyed it.
One man lives in the home, but officials say he was not home at the time. Fire fighters were called back out to the scene just before 8a.m. Monday to put out hot spots. They spent the rest of the morning ripping apart the roof, making sure they got out all the hot spots.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
