Mother Accused of Killing Infant Back in Court

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - Amber Murphy, accused of killing her infant son, was back in court Friday after Assistant Prosecutor Kati Rezmierski asked the judge to admit new evidence saying she may be responsible for other deaths.

Murphy's father, Thomas Ryan, told 6 News, "Amber lost her mother, son, husband, very best friend, her grandmother and grandfather, two uncles and two brothers all in a short time.

"How many of those are they going to accuse her of? That's my question. They have no evidence. It's all circumstantial stuff that they're making up."

Murphy is charged with the death of her 9-month-old son Seth Murphy, who died in 2009. It wasn't until last June that she was formally charged with his death.

One of Murphy's other children, then a five-year-old boy, testified in November for the prosecution, recalling memories of a night when he heard banging in his baby brother's room. Prosecutors allege that noise was Murphy beating her son.

Murphy's jury trial will start April 22nd.
