Warmer Temps Cause Worry of Flooding

OKEMOS, Mich. (WLNS) - Warmer temperatures caused a tough drive for morning commuters, but also posed a threat to homeowners. As the snow melted with no place to go from a frozen ground, many face leaking basements.

If your basement has been flood-free, experts say now may be a good time to get take some preventative action.

"Putting back-up systems, back up systems. It can help. And don't avoid that little leak because that little leak can be a big one here," said virgil ayers, owner of ayers basement systems.

Experts say if you do experience flooding, keep in mind that you have about three days before carpets and furniture start to mold.
