Red Cross Helps Families After East Lansing Fire


East Lansing Fire Department says residents from at least six apartments will have to find somewhere else to live, while they are repaired.

The fire department responded to Ville Montee Apartments, just off of Abbot road, around 8pm Thursday evening for a call of a structure fire. When they arrrived smoke was pouring from the second and third floors.

Crews were called in from both Lansing and Meridian Township to provide aide.

Lt. Leo Allaire tells 6News the fire caused extensive damage at least six apartments and water damage to another two within the complex.

A cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Red Cross was on the scene and is working with those displaced from the fire.
