Flags At Half Staff For Michigan Soldier


LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - American flags will fly at half staff Thursday to honor Sergeant Mark Schoonhoven.

The 38-year-old Michigan Soldier died last month at Brooke Army Medical Center in Houston Texas from wounds he suffered overseas.

Schoonhoven was from Plainwell and was part of a unit out of Fort Carson, Colo. He arrived in Afghanistan in November and was wounded December 15 when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Kabul.

He passed on January 20.
