Goodall Learns Fate, Gets Maximum Sentence

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - Delonzo Goodall, 24, fought back tears when he was given the maximum sentence in court Thursday.

Judge Thomas Wilson sentenced him to at least 12 years in prison. Goodall pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the March 2012 death of Willie Young, 50. Witnesses say Goodall punched Young several times, killing him during a fight inside Young's Jackson home.

"And apologize to my family because I hurt them, too and I just ask that you have mercy on me and give me the low end of the sentence," he said in court.

Originally charged with murder, there was no evidence of premeditation, so the prosecutor agreed to reduce that charge.
