Reward Offered For Information On Badly Injured Dog

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Police are offering a $500 reward for anyone with information that leads to the person responsible for abandoning an injured dog in Hunter Park.

Ingham County Animal Control responded to a citizen call that a small dog was in a box in the snow. According to responding Deputy Delatorre, the smell of infection was so strong, he smelled the dog before he got close to her.

The female Pomeranian was found with a large, infected cut on her neck Saturday in Lansing. Officials average the dog is likely 6-8 years old. Officials have named her "Serenity" from her calm nature. They do expect the pup to make a full recovery.

"It's very upsetting seeing animals in that condition. You think you see it all, but once in a while, you do get something like this, a kind of reality check that goes to show how bad things can get," said Deputy Delatorre.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Ingham County Animal Shelter tip line at 517-676-8376 or e-mail
