Government Says MI Battery Maker Misusing Funds


The U.S. Energy Department is accusing a Michigan battery maker of misusing government funds.

The government agency says LG Chem Michigan in Holland has wasted $142 million out of $150 million in stimulus money. LG Chem was supposed to use the funds to  produce lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and create numberous jobs.

The government organization says not a single battery has been made and about half the jobs created.
