MSU-U of M Contest Draws Blood

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - A contest between the Spartans and Wolverines is drawing blood--literally. The annual Red Cross Drive will run through Friday.

The Spartans are up by about 70 units of blood. Students, staff and anyone in the community is welcomed and encouraged to donate.

The process takes about an hour.

It takes about 650 units of blood a day to meet the need in the Great Lakes Region and meeting that need is especially difficult during the winter months. Storms canceled around 170 blood drives, putting the Red Cross behind by 7,200 units. Each pint could potentially help save three lives.
