Comcast Says They Won't Air Ads With Weapons

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - An announcement by cable giant Comcast says they will no longer run ads with firearms or weapons.

Classic Arms owner Yvonne Evanoff-Joseph got the call and says she was furious at the announcement.

"They've had no problem taking our money untill now. And this is all of the hysteria our current administration has created because of their feelings about guns and gun control," said Evanoff-Joseph.

Comcast says the gun control debate didn't trigger their decision. In a statement from Comcast they say:

"Consistent with long standing NBC policies, Comcast spotlight has decided it will not accept new advertising for firearms or weapons moving forward. This policy aligns us with the guidelines in place at many media organizations."

But Evanoff-Joseph isn't buying it.

"To discriminate against us for the mental condition of this country is wrong," said Evanoff-Joseph.

Comcast made the decision earlier this month, around the time it acquired NBC Universal. They say it won't affect ads for stores like Dick's sporting goods that sell guns, as long as their ads don't include firearms or weapons.
