Early Morning Homicide Victim Identified

Posted:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Police say Timothy Taylor, 47, was found dead in a bedroom at Oak Park Village Apartments just before 2 a.m.

Police aren't releasing many more details than that. When asked who started the fight, who was involved or how he died, they wouldn't go into details.

"We're keeping that information confidential at this point, so we don't cause any issues for future prosecution if that's the case," said Captain Daryl Green with LPD.

Although it's unclear who was inside the home with Taylor at the time of his death, investigators say they all knew each other.

"We can't clarify specifically if he lived in that apartment. We do know he was in that apartment with the permission of the resident owner," said Cpt. Green.

Neighbors woke up to the scene shocked. Many saying it's not fitting for the area.

"Nothing like that has ever happened here and I'm quite surprised because this is a quiet place and we've never, ever, that I know of, have been any problems," said Edward Garza, a neighbor.

Police believe it's an isolated case. They're in contact with everyone involved, but so far, no one has been arrested.

"We're hoping that the autopsy will give us some more information of which we can make a better assesment of exactly what happened," said Cpt. Green. "We still have a lot of work to do."

That autopsy report is expected Thursday. The case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (517) 483-STOP.
