Special Mass Held to Honor Pope Benedict

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - A special noon mass was given by Bishop Earl Boyea at St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown Lansing to honor Pope Benedict.

Around 200 people showed for the mass, a little over average.

Bishop Boyea says he's now full of hope as officials pick their new holy leader.

Benedict arrived at Castel Gandolfo after an emotional sendoff from the Vatican, where his closest aide wept by his side as he bade farewell to Vatican officials gathered in the courtyard of the Apostolic Palace, Swiss Guards standing by at attention.

Pope Benedict is the first pope in 600 years to resign.
