Raw Sewage Spills From Pump Station

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) -3,800 gallons of raw sewage spilled from a pump station on Rexford Road in Parma. That's per our media partners at MLive earlier this week.

The station is part of the Leoni Township Waste Water Treatment Plant. That sewage was 98 percent water, but did contain some e-coli.

According to John Zang of the plant, problems such as this happen rarely and this particular one was addressed quickly.

The Department of Environmental Quality in Jackson agreed with that assessment and stated that the Leoni Waste Water Treatment Plant has not had issues like this in the past and no health hazard was posed to the public.
