Officials To Discuss Violent Crimes

Local and federal police agency officials will be in Lansing Friday to discuss issues surrounding violent crimes.

Those officials represent agencies including the ATF, DEA, FBI, US Attorneys, Michigan State Police, and Lansing Police Department.

They don't plan to focus on one particular issue but instead on how they are working together to combat crime.

An FBI report shows during the first half of 2012 Lansing had fewer robberies, burglaries, and rape cases than the same time in 2011.

City officials say there were 12 homicides in Lansing last year and more work needs to be done.
