BWL Warns of Phone Scam

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) is warning customers about an attempted phone scam.

They say a customer received a phone call from someone who claimed to be a BWL representative and that their latest check didn't clear the bank. The caller asked for the bank routing number, but the customer refused to give it to them and alerted BWL.

They want to remind customers they'll never ask for personal information, such as routing numbers, over the phone. If a check bounces, that amount will be added to the customer's next bill along with a fee.

Anyone with questions or concerns can call the customer service line at (517)702-6006.
