Federal Police Agencies to Also be Hit by Sequester

The sequester could also affect federal police agencies. It's still unclear how hard agencies like the Drug Enforcment Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms would be hit.

Gil Salinas, a special agent with the ATF wouldn't give specifics of what could be cut, just that they're concerned. But they say public safety would not be comprimised and that agents would be able to "pick up the slack."

"I believe it'll be tough all the way around, but as far as resources, manpower, I think that's a concern for all, but as far as dealing with the violent crime, we will still continue to deal with it," said Salinas.

"Crime is not going to take a break just because we're getting cuts in funding. But we will have to be more selective from the cases that we take," said Patrick Miles, Jr., a U.S. Attorney in the western district of Michigan.
