OTTAWA, March 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Last March, I announced the Government of Canada's funding for the development of Squash Canada's Centre of Excellence at the National Squash Academy, and today am proud to take part in the official opening of the first phase - an all-glass doubles court.

The National Squash Academy is Canada's first and only facility dedicated to growing the sport of squash from the ground up. The Government of Canada is pleased to support such initiatives for the long-term development of our athletes from playground to podium.

As Minister of State (Sport) and on behalf of the Government of Canada, I commend Squash Canada and the National Squash Academy's Centre of Excellence on their efforts to provide athletes and coaches with opportunities to realize their goals.
