MARSHALL, Mich. (AP) - A vigil was held to mark the ninth anniversary of the disappearance of a southern Michigan woman.
The vigil for Mary Denise Lands was Tuesday afternoon at Brooks Memorial Circle Fountain in Marshall. The Calhoun County prosecutor, sheriff and other law enforcement officers were all in attendance. 49 gold and silver balloons were also released in honor of Lands to mark her 49th birthday. Investigators are seeking tips in the case.
Lands' disappearance sparked an extensive search. She was last seen at her Marshall home in 2004. She was declared dead in 2011, but her body was never found. No
Police say that doesn't mean it's a "cold case". In the last weeks, officials have received at least five tips and technological advances since her disappearance are allowing authorities to process old evidence in new ways.
If you have any information, you're asked to call the tip line for the Marshall Police Department at (269) 781-2596.
