EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - A new study released on the Presidents Council State Universities of Michigan website shows that Michigan universities are turning out more graduates in growing fields, such as engineering, medicine, math and technology.
The results showed degrees given by Michigan universities in health
related fields have more than doubled, up 102 percent, compared to a 95 percent
increase nationally.
In a separate study also released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report, Michigan State University was ranked number one nationally for the top graduate programs
in elementary and secondary education, nuclear physics and
industrial/organizational psychology.
The award marks the 19th year consecutively the college of education has been given the award. The MSU graduate program in industrial
and organizational psychology took the number one spot for the 15th year in a row. The nuclear physics took the number one spot in the graduate
rankings for the fourth year in a row.
African history took second place.
Michigan State said the rankings demonstrate the breadth of the programs offered, since three of the top four come from different colleges.
The results of the latter study will be published in the magazine's
2014 edition of Best Graduate Schools.
