Jackson Approves Garbage Measure

Jackson City Council members have approved a measure to use only one garbage hauling company for the entire city.

The city will start taking bids from the trash removal services in 30 days.

Before this measure was approved, everyone in the county was responsible for his or her own garbage.

Mayor Martin Griffin says some residents have not been cleaning up their mess. He believes that the measure will save city residents money.

In 2012, 280,000 tax oaters dollars were spent to haul away trash for people who did not have service.
