LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Legislation is on hold that would allow teachers and others to carry guns in schools, which was vetoed by the governor last year.
The pending legislation would allow guns in sports arenas, day care centers, places of worship schools. Senator Mike Green thinks having guns in those public places will make them safer. But while he's eager to pass this, the GOP leadership has told him not so fast
The GOP state attorney general was meeting with law enforcement on an unrelated issue, but was asked to check in on the guns in school legislation.
"I have a strong position on maintaining the rights of fire arm owners in the state," said AG Bill Schuette. "I'm going to look at that legislation. I'm not going to pre-judge anything. That would not be wise as a policy leaer in the state of Michigan."
