Judge Calls Man 'Cockroach' During Sentencing - WLNS TV 6 Lansing - Jackson | Your Local News Leader

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - Jackson County Circuit Judge Thomas Wilson sentenced a Jackson County man for first-degree criminal sexual conduct Thursday.

According to our partners at MLive, Daniel Mix, 44, was ordered to serve 29.5 to 50 years in prison. This comes after a jury found him guilty of three counts of first-degree and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of assault with the intent to sexually penetrate in January.

During sentencing, Judge Thomas said, "Quite frankly, Mr. Mix… you are nothing but a cockroach that should never see the light of day again."

The girl, who is the daughter of Mix's ex-girlfriend, testified in court that it began in 2006 when she was 6-years-old and continued until 2011. She said Mix would pull down both their pants and underwear to have sex.

The girl was removed from her mother's care and is expected be adopted by her foster parents.

According to MLive, Mix's half-sisters also testified that he molested them as children. He was charged in the 90s, but wasn't convicted. The case was not retried.
