Some Michigan Schools Increase Security After Threat


HASTINGS, Mich. (AP) - Some Michigan schools increased security measures after a caller told an emergency dispatcher that someone wanted to open fire at an elementary school. reports the Barry County sheriff's department says it doesn't believe the man planned to carry out the shooting. He was questioned by authorities. In response to the warning, schools in Barry County and surrounding areas tightened security.
The caller was from the Delton area, about 35 miles southeast of Grand Rapids. After making contact with him, sheriff's deputies and state police detained the man he called about.
The investigation is ongoing.
