'Hot Dog Guy' Back Open for Business Downtown

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Blame it on his contagious smile, outgoing personality or just the hot dogs he serves up, there's something people can't resist about Clint Tarver and his hot dog cart.

After his catering equipment was destroyed during December's Right-to-Work demonstration at the capitol, people came together and raised over $30,000 for their hot dog guy in just three short months.

"It makes me feel great. It just makes me feel that people do care about the hot dog guy," said Tarver.
He put the money to good use, by replacing his equipment, donating to his church and helping out a family member in need.

"People do good things for you, you do good things for other people," he said.

Friday's three hour re-opening brought in over 100 customers. Some even drove over an hour to get one of Tarver's famous hot dogs, which they say always comes with his signature warm smile.

"He's so friendly, and even if you're a customer one time, he'll usually remember your name and know who you are and give you a warm greeting, which is nice. It's a good cause, he's a good entrepreneur and, hey, the hot dogs are good," said Scott Greenlee.
