MSU Students Get Excited for March Madness

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Despite being knocked out of the Big Ten tournament over the weekend, students at Michigan State University say they they're still standing behind their team as the countdown to March Madness begins.

"I'll be expecting the leaders of the team to step up more because they probably want to redeem themselves from what happened in the Big Ten tournament, so I feel like we'll get a good team output," says MSU student Whitney Carter.

Other students on campus agree, and add that they have high expectations as the tournament gets underway.

"I like their seed; I think in the tournament they're going to go as far as Appling takes them," says MSU student Jake DePierre. "In my bracket, I'm going to put them the Elite Eight, maybe the Final Four, but I go here [to Michigan State], so that probably has something to do with it."

The Spartans will take on Valparaiso on Thursday at noon at the Palace of Auburn Hills near Detroit.
