Woody - Michigan's "official groundhog" - is offering a formal apology for blowing her Groundhog's Day forecast.

Temperatures in mid-Michigan remain in the 30's on this first day of spring. Woody had predicted better weather by now.

"Like all female woodchuck prognosticators, Woody is not afraid to admit when she's wrong," according a statement from the Howell Nature Center, where Woody calls home. "And although she correctly picked the Baltimore Ravens to win the Super Bowl, she is avoiding March Madness in it's entirety."

WLNS-TV Chief Meteorologist David Young has offered his services to help Woody out next year.

"Hopefully, Woody will use something more reliable than her shadow to predict the weather. She's can watch StormTracker 6!"
