Attack Of High School Student Posted Online

HARTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan sheriff's department has requested charges in an attack on a high school student that was recorded on video and posted online.

The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell and WHMI-FM report the fight took place March 12 at Hartland High School. Video shows one female student arguing with another before grabbing her from behind, pulling her to the ground and attacking her.

Sheriff Bob Bezotte says the girls were arguing about a personal issue. He says the case against the 14-year-old attacker would be handled in juvenile court. The department isn't seeking charges against a male student who recorded the fight and posted video on Facebook.

The prosecutor's office is to review the case. The school is in Hartland Township, about 40 miles northwest of Detroit.
