Bernero Announces Opening of Lansing Financial Empowerment Center


LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Lansing's financial future got a little brighter Thursday after Mayor Virg Bernero announced the opening of the Lansing Financial Empowerment Center.

The Center has five outlets around Lansing and offers free one-on-one financial counceling to help people reach their fiscal goals.



Lansing is one of five cities in the United States to receive a grant from the Cities Financial Empowerment Fund, headed by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.


Appointments can be made Monday through Saturday by calling 211 or 866-561-2500.

The five locations are:

  • Capital Area Community Services
  • Grand River Head Start
  • Ingham County Department of Human Services
  • Tabernacle of David Church
  • Advent House ministries
