Congressman Mike Rogers Considers U.S. Senator Seat

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - There's a lot of speculation about who will run for Democratic Senator Carl Levin's seat in 2014.

One of the names on the list is Republican Congressman Mike Rogers. The former FBI agent has served in Congress since 2001 and is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

That's an important job he says with a lot of power to make a difference. Something he's thinking about as he makes a decision.

"I never got into this business for titles. I got into it to make an impact. Can I make more of an impact running for the Senate and winning than I can being the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee? Gotta go through that. A lot of discussions with my family. This is a full time, 20 month, seven day a week excursion. All of these factors we need to talk about," said Rogers.

He believes republicans have a good chance at winning the seat.
