Tax Foreclosures Way Up in Jackson

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - Tax foreclosures in Jackson are way up, according to our media partners at MLive.

Since the foreclosusre crisis began in 2005, Michigan is just seeing relief. According to the Michigan Foreclosure Task Force foreclosures in 2012 were down 23 percent.

Since 2005, Michigan has lost half a million homes to mortgage foreclosure.

Officials said there just aren't as many options to get help with delinquent property taxes and many times it's senior citizens who own their home outright and aren't making payments on it who put off paying those property taxes because they just can't afford it.

Jackson County could foreclose on more than 700 properties by the end of this month is taxes go unpaid.
