Business Expansions Involve $81M in Investment

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan is supporting nine business expansions that are expected to generate more than $81 million in investment and lead to the creation of hundreds of jobs.

Governor Rick Snyder on Wednesday announced a variety of Michigan Strategic Fund incentives for the projects.

Among them, auto industry supplier Challenge Manufacturing Co. plans to invest $10 million and expand in Holland and Walker.

In Kalamazoo, Newell Rubbermaid plans to spend $2.3 million to build a design center to consolidate its U.S. product and graphic design.

Detroit Thermal Systems LLC plans to invest more than $25 million to develop and make climate control systems and components for the auto industry. And auto industry supplier Hanwha L&C Alabama LLC plans to invest $12 million and expand in Monroe.
