Prices jump 30, 40 cents a gallon
EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A few golf courses opened their doors over Easter weekend, but it's a late start to the season compared to last year.
Stephen Ruthenburg, the general manager of MSU's Forest Akers Golf Courses says the cold weather is to blame.
"We normally try to get the golf courses open by the middle of March," said Ruthenburg. This year, he opened the East course on Friday, March 29.
Last year, the unseasonably warm temperatures allowed him to open the course by late February. Two weeks into March, the highs hit the 80 degree mark.
"Last year was the best spring we had in years," he said.
Temperatures are expected to drop Monday and Tuesday.
Ruthenburg says the Forest Akers course will continue to stay open as long as temps are above 40 degrees. If not, customers can always use the year-round driving range.
