6 News To Run On ABC Station

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - It's no April Fools joke: starting tonight at 6 p.m., you can watch 6 News on Lansing's ABC affiliate, WLAJ.

Jane Aldrich and Greg Adaline will run right after "Ellen."

Then you can catch Greg and Sheri Jones tonight at 11 p.m. after "Dancing With The Stars" and the 100th episode of "Castle."

"It's a great way to expand our reach and bring our same great news, sports, and weather to viewers across mid-Michigan," said News Director Jam Sardar.

The station was recently honored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as having the best breaking news coverage and best weather in mid-Michigan.

6 News at 6 and 11 will run weeknights on WLAJ.

6 News This Morning will run right before "Good Morning America" starting on April 15th.

Evan Pinsonnault, Brittany Gray, and Jake Dunne started doing the two minute updates during the nation's most popular morning show today.

WLNS is simulcasting 6 News as part of a management agreement with WLAJ. The two stations are owned by separate companies, but WLNS is overseeing operation of both the ABC affiliate and the CW station owned by Shield Media. The agreement started on March 1st.

The move means 6 News will get a big boost in Jackson and Hillsdale Counties. The signal strength from ABC's tower is stronger there. 6 News will also be able to tune in live shots from more places in both counties.

"It's a win-win for the stations and for the viewers," Sardar said.

And for people looking to get their news online, wlaj.com now re-directs people to wlns.com. The website was just named mid-Michigan's best broadcast news site for the 5th year in a row.
