Posted: Updated:

MASON, Mich. (WLNS) - It took three departments to battle a house fire that broke out Wednesday morning.

The fire started around 7:30 a.m. on Willoughby Road near U.S. 127, prompting police to close some roads in the area.

The person who lived there escaped when he jumped from the building. He's being treated for smoke inhalation. His dog unfortunately died in the fire.

The two-story house is a total loss.

Investigators are still working to find the cause of the fire.
