Abused Ingham Co. Dog Looking for New Home

An animal cruelty investigation is underway in Ingham County after a dog was brought in with a 13 inch cut circling its neck.

Officers named the 9 year old dog "Goober."

According to Animal Control, Goober's owner died and he was left in the care of relatives who chained him in the backyard for weeks with the severely infected cut.

The bandage put over the gouge was so filthy and old, that Ingham County Animal Control says it had grown into his skin.

Goober's owners brought him to the shelter to end his life, but Officers opted for surgery instead.

Now, he's a healthy, happy senior looking for a forever home.

If you'd like more information on Goober, you can call Ingham County Animal Control at (517) 676-8376.
