"Suspicious" Package Prompts Police Response

A suspicious package prompted police to send a bomb squad to a Lansing neighborhood this morning - but the package didn't end up being dangerous.

A homeowner in the 3300 block of Parkview Avenue called police after seeing the package. It wasn't left on a front stoop and didn't appear to be left by a regular delivery person.

That prompted police to call out the dogs to the neighborhood near Poxson Park on the near-south side - and a dog indicated the package might contain a bomb.

A state police bomb squad and several fire trucks went out to the neighborhood, but the bomb squad quickly determined the package was shoebox full of material that wasn't harmful.
