Successful Black Women of MSU host Peace Summit

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Successful Black Women, a Registered Student Organization at Michigan State University, held its second annual Peace Summit this afternoon.

Nearly 150 people registered for the event, founded after people in the organization noticed a lack of racial unification at MSU.

The event gave participants the opportunity to gain a greater insight into common local and global issues, to destroy myths and stereotypes, to form alliances and to galvanize student activism.

From 1 to 5:30 p.m., the event held segments on peace, unity and social justice, and featured keynote speaker, Donzaleigh Abernathy.

The organization plans to continue the series again next year.
