ORANGE BARREL UPDATE: 3 Construction Projects Underway

Posted:

UPDATE: Just as construction season is in full swing, so is the weather.

The overnight double lane closure scheduled for Monday night on eastbound I-496 has been cancelled due to the current weather forecast.

The deck pour at Clemens St over I-496 is now tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday night, April 16. Starting at the Cedar Street interchange, two lanes will be closed on eastbound I-496 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

All work is weather dependent.

Construction season is in full swing here in Mid-Michigan.

In Lansing, the Board of Water and Light will start closing parts of Christopher, Emerson, Cross and Cypress Streets on the city's North-West side. Crews will be working to replace the water service there; The project is expected to be completed by mid-June.

Also in Lansing, workers will close two lanes of Eastbound I-496 at Clemens Street to do some bridge work. That closure starts at 8 P.M. Monday and should be re-opened by 6 A.M. Tuesday.

In East Lansing, there will be single lane closures on Grand River Ave. in both directions, between Bogue Street and Stoddard Avenue. It's part of an on-going project there to make improvements to the sidewalk.

One final traffic note,  MDOT officials will begin lifting weight restrictions Monday on all state truck line highways from the Michigan/Indiana border up to the thumb area.
