Suspect In Custody For House Fire

A suspect is in custody after a fire broke out at a home in downtown Lansing.

Officials ruled the fire a case of arson after it sparked sometime after 11:30 Monday night on Eureka Street just west of Pennsylvania Avenue.

The suspect police say is a 30-year-old male. He was taken into custody shortly after the fire was out.

Lansing fire officials say the fire started on the outside of the building. Four people were inside at the time, but all of them made it out safely.

Fire Fighters were able to put out the flames in about half an hour. The fire did cause a gas leak, so police evacuated people living in three homes surrounding the enflamed home.
