3 State Departments Joining Michigan Earth Day Event

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Three state government departments are participating in an Earth Day observance that's expected to draw thousands of students, teachers and others to Lansing on Thursday.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Constitution Hall. It's sponsored by the departments of Environmental Quality, Natural Resource and Agriculture and Rural Development. The Detroit Audubon Society and winners of a poster contest will receive awards.

More than 50 hands-on activities will be available.

The annual program recognizes Michigan's environment and natural resources through public outreach and educational exhibits, presentations and performances.
